Through Space and Time

"Madness is a virtue, reality is a crutch.

Better bats up in the attic. They don't bother me much!"

Like so many of his songs, Bats in the Attic is a free and fluid hallucination meandering through  space and time, floating on a stream of popular culture, folk songs and flashbacks.  It's the result of years of unabashedly bold writing.

In his Texas Two-Step dream song, La Vida es Sueno, Phil drifts off to Seville, Spain to pass an afternoon drinking San Miguel beer with Pablo Picasso and Lope de Vega.  One Christmas morning he dreamt a song, then took Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Kubla Khan and all his fans second-lining down Rampart Street in Me, Woody, Bob and You

To Phillip Henry Christopher life is a magnificent montage of grief and wonder, fantasy and vivid experiences in the gritty realities of the times. There's a place for tales of heartbreak and loss, misspent youth and painfully acquiring the wisdom of age. With one eye on the world outside, another turned inward to figments of his own imagination, including himself, Phillip Henry Christopher is always unpredictable, defying convention and character typing, even as he rests firmly in the great Folk music traditions from which he's come.

From Bluegrass to Berklee and Beyond

The Journeys of Matt Scutchfield

Though he was already 3 years old when he got his first fiddle, Matt quickly made up for all those lost years, eventually learning to play 22 plus stringed instruments.  Then came the pandemic, and while everyone was locked up at home he began hosting a weekly showcase for a small performance venue.  There he met, virtually, Phillip Henry Christopher.  The rest is Peddler's French history.

His bio reads "Matt Scutchfield is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and producer working in bluegrass and avant-garde genres. A graduate of Berklee College of Music and certified Mark O'Connor strings" Now it also includes co-founder of Peddler's French.

From Bach to Rock and Points in Between

Melodi Miller's Winding Trail From Virginia Beach to Wheaton to Peddler's French

Melodi Flute.jpg

A life-long love of music shines in every note Melodi plays.  Like so many great singers, her music began singing in church with her mom at just five years old. By ten she began the flute mastery that took her to Wheaton College to study classical music.  After a BA in music and years of

performing she received another BA, this time Music Education, and became a teacher and band director.  Along the way Melodi has actually played from Bach to Rock, and added acoustic guitar and bass to her arsenal, eventually bringing her remarkable voice to both Peddler's French releases, as well as to solos and duets already tracked for the third album.
